Land development

Land development project plan is the action done by a Land Surveyor in order to divide or sub-divide in lots one or many properties in view of creating houses, industries or commerces, parks and roads. The project plan is usually prepared at the beginning of a development project and evolves through time to its final version before the cadastral plan is deposited allowing the sale of pieces of land.

In virtue of the Act respecting land use planning and development, municipalities have the power to establish by-laws concerning the land development on their territory, to define the width, the depth and the minimal area for each lot, depending on the type of use permitted.
